Your Garden Studio Awaits
Our bespoke garden rooms really can be built for any purpose and in any space. We have worked with lots of clients with smaller outdoor spaces, particularly in Brighton, Hove and Lewes where space is limited, and we can come up with a design that makes full use of the space you have.

Sussex Garden Rooms have been used for all sorts of things; an annexe (or 'granny annex'), a 'man cave', a luxury garden office, an outdoor gym, music studios, garden bars, hot tub rooms and more. The whole point of a garden room is how versatile they are, all possible without the need for planning permission or costly extensions.

Do I need planning permission for a garden room in Sussex?
One of the questions we get asked the most is whether you need planning permission to build a garden room. In many cases, you do not need planning permission and you can safely build a garden room if you have permitted development rights at your home. Of course, there are specific conditions you need to meet to avoid requiring planning permission. For example, garden rooms must only be one storey tall and within a 3 metre height and it cannot be infront of your house.

There are also other considerations such as the intended use of the room, whether or not it has a bathroom or kitchen and if it will be used for accommodation. For some locations in Sussex at World Heritage Sites or Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (such as the South Downs National Park or the Ashdown Dorest), there are some additional conditions.
